Ends on

Michelson 20MM is committed to helping individuals and communities impacted by the criminal justice system forge a brighter, more prosperous future through educational attainment. In keeping this pledge, we’re launching our latest Michelson Spark Grants funding round and awarding grants of up to $25,000 to nonprofits at the intersection of higher education, workforce development, and incarceration.

We continue to make investments in this work through our Michelson Spark Grants program. The 2022 Smart Justice funding cycle will run from November 21 - December 7, and seeks to fund macro level projects in support of systems level strategies that create impact at scale and inform public policy.
During this cycle, Michelson 20MM seeks to fund projects that support systems-level strategies with potential to create positive impact at scale and inform public policy.

We are interested in supporting initiatives that address the following:

  • Programming that supports access to high-wage high-growth employment and career opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals.
  • Advancing programming that grows the pipeline for college enrollment of individuals who did not pursue higher education while in prison.
  • Multigenerational approaches focused on supporting the family unit of justice impacted students (parents, children, uncle/aunt, cousins, etc.)
  • Supporting scalable solutions for soon-to-be or recently released individuals focused on advancing digital literacy skills.
  • Elevating the voices of justice-impacted student leaders to build awareness and educate policymakers on the needed support for this population.
